Bil,
I looked at the GPS tracks and the highest speed I recorded was just over 24mph, not bad for a 30 year old design! There were multiple times where the speeds exceeded 15mph often for a decent distance. I think Doug Baker hit slightly higher speeds probably around 26-27mph for a short distance. I have attached a screen shot of my GPS software showing the tracks we sailed in the afternoon. Feel free to post it on the blog. Thanks again for your hard work organizing the fleet.

Pretty impressive! What kind of winds? Pretty cool GPS tracking too. I have been on Sebago many times on my powerboat, once I borrowed my uncle's 14 (near kettle cove) and had a blast. I recently bought a Wave, have yet to sail it anywhere but the little local pond where I keep her.
I have not seen any actual wind data but my quess is they were averaging about 20 knots with gusts to 25+. From what I saw that day the Hobie 16 is capable of 30mph in perfect conditions on a reach.
You should bring your wave to a fleet event next year.
I would like that. I will be watching this site for more info....all I need now is a trailer!

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
